Sewing is good for the soul so why take time out from the hustle and bustle and join us here at my studio in Dumfries for a relaxed and fun class learning hand embroidery making this festive design.
This 3- hour workshop will give you an excellent introduction to hand embroidery, during the class Leah will teach you a variety of stitches including french knot, satin stitch, back stitch etc. You will practice different stitches which we will add to a sampler to use for future reference and learn how versatile they can be. You'll also use different threads and yarn to explore different textures and styles they achieve.
Leah will show you how to transfer designs to fabric and using the stitches you've learnt you will begin to stitch your design. During class you'll create a unique piece featuring Leah's festive design which can be used as hoop art, transformed into a panel for a cushion or quilt or framed as a picture on your wall. You'll leave with the beginnings of a beautiful embroidered item that can be displayed each year and detailed diagrams of the stitches covered, to refer back to when you get home.
Material included. Fabric, thread, yarn, fabric transfer pen and embroidery hoop.
You will also receive a copy of the pattern and a suggested stitch guide to take home with you.
Basic tools of the trade are also provided so all you have to do is show up!
Classes are small, maximum class number is 10 guests, to ensure you get the personal tuition you need to help with your project and you get the best out of each workshop we host.
