When and where can I book my place?

Booking for our next Sewing Retreat on the 5th May 2018 is now live on the website and you can book your place HERE. Places are limited to a maximum of 10 guests. We require a completed Booking Form and a deposit of £250 per person to secure your place. Alternatively you can email Ruth at info@gallowayescapes.co.uk and she can happily send you a booking form in the post.

How big are the classes?

Classes are small, maximum class number will be 10 guests at the retreat, to ensure you get the personal tuition you need to help with your project and get the best out of each workshop we host during the weekend. The smaller sized class also allows you time to get to know the rest of the group and make creative friendships that will hopefully last after you return home.

Can I get to you by train?

The nearest train station is Dumfries (19 miles away) so you will need to arrange transport from the station to Craigbittern in Sandyhills. There’s also a regular bus service, number 372, from the centre of Dumfries. You can request for the bus to stop right outside Craigbitten. Your bus journey, lets just say is a scenic route but you’ll get to see some of the pretty villages and hamlets that are located along the Solway Coast. See if you can spot Leah’s own home, The Doctors House!

Do I need to bring anything with me?

Only your clothes, toiletries and alcohol, if you fancy a tipple or a glass of wine with your meal.  Everything else is taken care of throughout your weekend at the retreat. All materials for the sewing workshops will be provided but you may want to bring along some of your own fabrics that may have special meaning to you which can be incorporated into your design, but you don’t need to.

Can I come and share a room with a friend?

Yes, you can! We'd love if you brought along a friend too. Please state in the booking form if you wish to share a room and your friend's details.

I would love to come to the retreat, but I am worried about coming alone. does it matter if I don’t bring a friend?

No of course not, you needn't worry about coming alone. The retreat will be a friendly place to spend the weekend and we encourage people to connect and make new creative friendships. Prior to the retreat there will be an opportunity to get to meet others who are coming too by accessing a private Facebook group. The group is there for you all to get to know each other and make friends before you come to stay at the retreat.

I have mobility issues can I still come?

Yes, of course! We have one double bedroom which is on the ground floor, so please let us know on the booking form if you require this room. If you need any details about the accomodation do get in touch with Ruth at info@gallowayescapes.co.uk and she will happily answer any queries you may have.

I have a special diet will I still be able to eat with everyone?

Yes of course, our caterers are able to work around any dietary requirements e.g vegan, vegetarian, gluten and dairy free. Please do let us know your dietary needs at time of booking.

What happens if I have to cancel?

We ask that you please contact us as soon as possible if you have to cancel, please read our Terms & Conditions. You will lose all monies paid towards the booking unless we are able to fill the dates then you will receive a refund.

How do I get to Craigbittern?

Craigbittern is located in Sandyhills, South West Scotland. Full details of directions will be sent you and more details about the retreat when full payment is made.

What time does the retreat start and finish?

Guests are invited to join us from 2pm on the arrival day and we ask the house is vacated by 4pm on Monday, the day of departure.

Can I stay extra days, before or after my group retreat?

We are afraid at this time we are unable to offer this as an option. But why plan a return journey and share the delights of the region with family and friends and stay at Craigbittern.

What is the accommodation like?

Craigbittern is a beautiful Victorian building with sea views, finished to high standards with very comfortable surroundings. You can find out more about where you will be staying at Accommodation.

Can I go out while I am on retreat?

Of course you can, you are most welcome to come and go as you please during your time at the retreat but this could mean missing some of the workshops. There will be free time each day for you to discover the local area. We are so close to the beach it would be such a shame not to be able to discover some of the coastline while you are here.

Do you have free wifi?

Yes, Craigbittern house has wifi but please note this is a rural area so its not always the best speeds. But this also means you can take time out from technology while you stay.

Do you pick us up from the airport or train station?

We are afraid we do not offer this option at this time but please do get in touch if you need help with planning your journey to the retreat. You will also be invited to join a private Facebook group where you can make plans with other guests at the retreat and possibly arrange to share transport to the retreat.

Who do I contact if I have more questions?

Please email Ruth at info@gallowayescapes.co.uk for any enquiries you may have.
