Join us for a fun and relaxing day at this brand new workshop hosted by Leah and Kirsten Rowe. You'll come along to class empty handed and leave with your very own hand painted lamp base and a lampshade in the fabric of your choice.
Kirsten has been working as a furniture restorer for the last 7 years, first as a hobby then subsequently opted to become self-employed and launched her own company, Mala Interiors, 2 years ago. Kirsten upcycles and redesigns furniture to order, on commission basis and to sell, specialising in mid-century and contemporary styles. She also hosts workshops teaching paint techniques, basic upholstery, embellishment & image transfer. I am delighted she will now be teaching a variety of classes here at the studio at Solway House.
You will learn how to make a beautiful, unique table lamp painted in fabulous Frenchic Paint. Kirsten will show you how to prepare your piece for painting and how to apply Frenchic Paint for best results. You'll also learn dry brush technique, wet/dry distressing and then finish off the lampbase with waxes once the paint has dried.
Frenchic Furniture Paint is an all-natural, eco-friendly chalk and mineral paint that requires no stirring, shaking or the addition of water. With no added VOC’s, toxins or solvents and virtually no smell, you’ll find that it’s creamy, rich and has superior coverage. Frenchic has no hidden nasties and has also gone through rigorous testing to be certified child safe (EN 71:3). This high-quality Chalk and Mineral paint is available in 45 fantastic colours. It paints like a dream with superior coverage and when you do need to use the body butter-like wax, it glides on easily and you won’t need to use as much as you would with conventional paints. You'll recieve a 10% discount to use on any purchases you make of paint on the day.
While you wait for the paint to dry you'll learn how to construct a beautiful hand rolled drum lampshade from scratch to attach to your painted lamp base. Leah will take you through the process step by step and pass on tips and tricks to create a professional finish. You'll need to bring along your own fabric, we will send you details of required amounts and some additional information on the best types of fabrics to choose when you place your booking. Everything else will be provided plus a light lunch, tea/coffee and some refreshments to keep you fuelled.
